After ten years as an airline ticketer with a leading global airline, Tito has mastered the art of getting people to their destinations on time. But when it comes to his side hustle in crypto, he’s learned that not everything comes with a boarding pass—or a warning signal.
In this special Quidaxian Of the Month, or let’s say Quidaxian of Q1, Tito talks us through how he almost got played by panic-selling, why he doesn’t fall for every coin on the runway, and how he uses good old “trial and error” to stay fool-proof in the crypto skies.
It’s the perfect read for anyone who’s ever monitored the market like it’s their flight gate.
Let’s start from the top. Who’s Tito?
Tito: Well, I’m Tito Olaniyi, from Osun State. I work at the International Airport as an airline ticketer. I’ve been working here for over 10 years. (Laughs) My colleagues have started calling me Methuselah!
Love that! And you’re also into crypto now. How did that begin?
Tito: Ah, crypto! That thing where you either feel like a genius or question your entire existence in five minutes. I started around 2019. A friend hyped it as the future, but I was still forming Doubting Thomas. I kept seeing colleagues making money and since I like nice things too, I did some research and stumbled on Quidax.
What made Quidax stand out?
Tito: Honestly? It didn’t make me feel like I needed a PhD in rocket science just to buy coins. Other platforms felt like I was back in further maths class in secondary school. Quidax was smooth and simple. No mathematical gymnastics.
I love that! After you joined Quidax, what was the first coin you ever bought?
Tito. I bought Bitcoin o, the king of all coins. I bought it around late 2019, early 2020. Market was wild back then. Prices would crash, bounce back… and me? I’d panic sell at the first red I see. At some point, I was starting to think the market had personal beef with me.
Oh no, so you fell for the red candle panic!
Tito: I swear. I’d sell out of fear, and just after, boom! Market jumps 15%. That thing can give you hypertension. But with time, I learned. These days, when it’s red, I buy. When it’s green, I relax.
Love that! So are you more of a trader or a holder?
Tito: I’m a holder. I like to play it safe. I’d rather earn small and sleep well than chase millions and lose sleep. I once held a coin for over two years—used the profit to settle rent, help family, and even pick up a few small assets.
And have you ever introduced people to crypto?
Tito: Not really. Crypto’s not something you push on people. It’s volatile. Unless you’re patient and willing to learn, it can burn you. I tell people: do your research, know the game. No shortcuts.
Valid. What’s your favourite Quidax feature?
Tito: Instant swaps! I hate waiting—it’s not in my DNA. And the customer service? Ten over ten. I always say Quidax support is like having your personal bodyguard.
(Laughs) You’re hilarious. Any suggestions on how we can make you love us more?
Tito: Maybe add staking and currencies like euros and pounds. Some of us don’t want to gree for inflation in more ways than one. But overall, Quidax is doing great. Even better than some banks I know.
Last question—when you’re not trading or working, what are you doing?
Tito: I’m a sports guy. I love riding—cars or bicycles. Not in Lagos traffic, though! I also enjoy watching documentaries. Movies confuse me. Charts confuse me more. So I stick to things that make me happy.
