How Crypto Turned Mayowa Into A Scam-Proof Businesswoman (And Made Her A Millionaire Too) đŸ’°đŸ’…đŸŸ

Running a business in Nigeria? Then you know the struggle of fake transfers & shady customers. But Mayowa, a hair boss, and our International Women’s Day crypto queen, figured out how to stay ahead—thanks to crypto! Now, she’s not just making money; she’s keeping it too.

But a few years ago, she was just a sceptical university student watching her boyfriend trade Ethereum, wondering if all this “crypto thing” was legit. Now? Mayowa is the one trading crypto and even encouraging other women to give it a shot. She’s even giving scammers a run for their money. Read on to find out how Mayowa’s crypto knowledge not only made her rich but also helped her clap back at a scammer in a way that had us all screaming. 😂

Good day, ma’am. Thanks for joining us for this International Women’s Day Special. Please, introduce yourself to our readers

Mayowa: Thank you for having me. My name is Mayowa, and I’m a businesswoman. I sell luxury hair, I revamp wigs, and on the side, I trade crypto.

Now, that’s a strong introduction. But let’s rewind, how did you even get into crypto?

Mayowa: Funny story. My boyfriend introduced me to it in 2019. At first, I was just watching him do his thing on Quidax—buying Ethereum, selling it a few days later, and making profits. I was skeptical. I kept telling him, ‘ don’t call me if this thing breaks your heart o’ But then, I saw how many opportunities there were and let’s just say, my curiosity turned into serious FOMO.

So, what made you finally make the move?

Mayowa: It was the COVID lockdown. I had nothing to do, so I secretly opened my own Quidax account. At first, I was just testing the waters, but within months, I was making more money from crypto than I ever had from my business.

Wait, you didn’t inform the person who introduced you?

Mayowa: (laughs) I didn’t o. I already bad mouthed it too much so I was doing things lowkey.  At some point, I was even doing more transactions than him, and I got assigned a personal account officer on Quidax and I didn’t even tell him.

So, what’s the biggest thing crypto has helped you achieve?

Mayowa: My first million. My business. My house. I sponsor three of my younger siblings through school—two in university, one in secondary school. Without crypto, none of that would have been possible. Crypto has also taught me how to spot scams from a mile away

Spot scams? Tell us more about that.

Mayowa: As a luxury hair vendor, I’ve seen it all, fake alerts, shady customers, and people who think they can outsmart me. One time, this babe sent me a fake transfer for a wig worth over 500K. But I knew something was off.

When you’ve been in crypto long enough, you can smell a bad transaction from a distance. Instead of panicking, I played along. The babe thought she had won. So I sent her the wig. Only it was a bag packed with trash — hair from the floor, some old sponge
complete nonsense. I wish I saw her face when she opened that bag.

But now, I accept crypto payments, so those days of scam transfers are over. Once someone completes a transaction, I can see it incoming within a few seconds. So, I’m sure the funds will land in my wallet soon.

That’s some epic move!

Mayowa: Yessoh! When you’ve been in crypto long enough, you can smell a bad transaction from a distance.Since then, I have made it my mission to help people, especially women understand money, crypto, and how to avoid scams. I even introduced a friend to Quidax, who later used her crypto profits to relocate abroad.

That’s amazing! You are the real crypto goddess. But good stories aside, have you ever made a bad call?

Mayowa: Plenty! I once invested 8 million naira in a coin that crashed. I didn’t do my research properly and eventually had to withdraw only 3 million back, which was painful. I’ve learned the hard way that patience is key in crypto.

And what about people you’ve introduced to crypto—ever had someone blame you for their losses?

Mayowa: Oh, there was this one girl. She didn’t follow my advice, invested in a dip, and then started blowing up my phone every day, asking, ‘When will my money go up?’ It was so embarrassing that I just refunded her 100k out of my own pocket. But, jokes on her because the coin eventually bounced back, and I made money from it!

So, what kind of trader are you? Spot, futures, or something else?

Mayowa: I do both futures and spot trading, but I don’t invest too much in spot trading. Futures is where the fun is!

What about your go-to coins?

Mayowa: Ethereum and Litecoin, hands down. I used to love Dash, but something happened with it recently, and now I’m done with that one. As for Bitcoin? That’s for the big boys and girls. I’m not there yet (laughs).

When you’re not trading, what’s your guilty pleasure?

Mayowa: YouTube videos, but let’s be honest, I club almost every Friday. Well, I used to until recently.

So now, no more Friday night turn-ups?

Mayowa: Let’s just say my weekends are looking very different these days!

What’s your advice to other women just starting out in crypto?

Mayowa: Be patient. The market moves up and down, but if you panic every time there’s a dip, you’ll lose money. Also, don’t go all in without proper research. FOMO is expensive!

Mayowa’s journey is proof that crypto isn’t just for ‘tech bros’—it’s for anyone willing to learn and take the risk. She went from doubting crypto to making life-changing money, all thanks to Quidax.
